Meet our Research Team

Dr. Stanhope is the founding researcher at LearnPlatform, which joined Instructure in December 2022. In his role, he works with edtech providers of every size to build, grow and share their evidence. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from North Carolina State University, where he also worked with the William & Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation.
 

Dr. Styers possesses 15 years of experience in education research and preK-16 curriculum evaluation, and has worked in both the public and private sectors. She earned a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from North Carolina State University.

Areas of Interest: Product Implementation and Effectiveness, Data Visualizations

Dr. Henschel has 10 years of experience with the design, coordination, administration and analyses of educational research and evaluation across subject areas. She completed her Ph.D. in Research, Assessment, and Evaluation from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Areas of Interest; Research-Practitioner Partnerships, Social Emotional Learning

Dr. Hunt is an applied developmental psychologist committed to improving experiences and outcomes for students and educators. She received her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Virginia and brings more than a decade of experience with evaluation research in educational settings.

Areas of Interest: Math, Quantitative Analysis

Dr. Shah received her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education Research from North Carolina State University. She has 10+ years of experience in classroom teaching, curriculum development and technology implementation.

Amanda has over 10 years of classroom teaching, curriculum development and technology director experience. Amanda earned her PhD from North Carolina State University in curriculum and instruction with a focus on instructional technology.

Areas of Interest: Product Evaluation, Data Analysis

Andrew has 10+ years experience in education policy and research and is co-author of Learning in the Fast Lane: The Past, Present, and Future of Advanced Placement (2019). He received his Master’s in International Children’s Rights from King’s College London.

Ben received his Master’s in Economics from the University of Massachusetts. He has extensive experience with technical writing, statistical analysis, and communicating quantitative results with non-technical audiences.

Alexandra has 10+ years of experience working in education as a K-12 teacher, college instructor, and researcher. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology from Michigan State University.

Alex has 8 years of experience working in K-12 education and nonprofit operations. Alex has been an avid researcher in the fields of psychology and music education, presenting his findings at national conferences around the United States in topics such as games-based learning, contemporary music education, and identity. Alex has a Master’s degree in Music Education and graduate certification in Nonprofit Management.

Avery has a background in data science and cognitive psychology research with an emphasis on educational applications. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
